Expo Milano 2015: German Pavilion

winner in three FAMAB award categories

The German Pavilion
“Fields of Ideas” received awards in three categories at the FAMAB Awards
: Gold in the category “Best Public
Event”, gold in the category “Best Interactive Installation” and bronze in the
category “Best Thematic Exhibition“. The prizes
were awarded by an independent panel of experts during the official award
ceremony which was held last Tuesday night the 12th November in
Ludwigsburg, Germany. The “Best Interactive Installation” award was given to
the German Pavilion team for the “SeedBoard” tool, which received the highest score
awarded by the panel of judges.

“The fact that the
German Pavilion, in addition to the Exhibitor Magazine awards, the Red Dot
Award and the B.I.E. Award, enjoyed such a success at the FAMAB Awards, exceeds
our expectations. This is an unparalleled result. It is based on the team
effort of Messe Frankfurt together with the consortium composed of exhibition
experts Milla & Partner, architects from the Schmidhuber architectural
office, and the  Nüssli Deutschland construction experts”, said Dietmar
Schmitz, Commissioner General of the German Pavilion. “I regard this as a
strong signal for the positive perception of Germany at the World Expo in
Milan. The pavilion inspired private visitors as well as representatives of the
event industry,” added Erol Altunay, pavilion director of Messe Frankfurt.

“I am
proud that the German Pavilion and its spatial installations have become one of
Expo’s preferred places of intercultural encounters and technical inspiration.
Flowing shapes, countless perspectives and a welcoming attitude contributed to
the success of the pavilion among the general public, and we are pleased about
the many awards for our high level of design competence,” underlined Lennart
Wiechell, Managing Partner of Schmidhuber and lead architect of the German
Pavilion.

“We are absolutely
delighted about the two awards for our core competence as exhibition makers
,” said Peter Redlin of Milla &
Partner. “Our SeedBoard succeeded in involving visitors in a playful and
surprising manner. The SeedBoard tool facilitated almost 3 million intensive
visitor interactions with the contents.”

The AWARD, formerly
known as the ADAM-und-EVA-Award, has been granted annually since 2014 by the
industry association “FAMAB Verband Direkte Wirtschaftskommunikation e.V.” for
outstanding brand experiences, international benchmarks in interpersonal
communication and temporary as well as permanent architecture.

In August 2015, the German Pavilion
“Fields of Ideas” had already received the Red Dot Award in the category
“Spatial Communication”. Two awards by Exhibitor
Magazine in the categories “Best Pavilion” and “Interactivity” followed at the
beginning of October and, on October 30, the “Fields of Ideas” won the B.I.E.
Award for the best thematic implementation of the Expo theme.

Background information information on the German
Pavilion at the 2015 World Exhibition in Milan

Large-scale, universal world exhibitions are held
every five years in rotation with smaller expos. The World Expo in Milan
follows Shanghai (2010), Aichi (2005) and Hanover (2000). Expo 2015 showcases
the theme “Feeding the planet, energy for life”. It dispenses with prestigious monumental
buildings, presenting itself rather as a sustainable Agrofood Park.

The German Pavilion “Fields of Ideas” has the motto
“Be active!”.

On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs
and Energy, Messe Frankfurt has been entrusted with the organisation and
running of the German Pavilion at EXPO 2015 in Milan. The design, planning and
realisation of the German Pavilion have been taken on by the ARGE, a consortium
made up of Milla & Partner (Stuttgart), Schmidhuber (Munich) and Nüssli
Deutschland (Roth near Nuremberg). Milla & Partner is responsible for the
content concept as well as the design of the exhibition and media. Schmidhuber
is responsible for the pavilion’s spatial concept, its architecture and general
planning and Nüssli for project management and construction. Under the
programme management of Wolfgang Weyand and Mike P. Heisel Voss+Fischer is
responsible for the cultural programme of the German Pavilion.

MiThe Expo site is located close to the existing Milan

exhibition centre. The world exhibition will remain open for six months – from

1 May to 31 October 2015. For more information, please visit our website at
