Gabbie McGee in the Sarah Vaughn International Jazz Vocal Competition!@GabbieMcGee

Brave Little Songbird

Hey yall! I’ve been incredibly brave lately!
After two years of feeling I wasn’t ready to enter a competition of this
magnitude, I took a leap of FAITH! I’m learning that getting “ready” sometimes
means giving it a try…So, I submitted 2 cover songs (Sweet Hour of Prayer & Summertime) and 1 original piece (GO) to the Sarah Vaughn International Jazz Vocal Competition!  It was a
very bold move for me to submit a hymn as my vocal ballad. But, my love for
hymns and their meaning makes them love songs to me, so I figured hey…why not!
Plus, Sarah Vaughan got her start at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Newark,
NJ…I’m sure she sang a hymn or two from the brick red baptist
hynmal!

Please support my act
of bravery by listening and then casting your vote! The voting doesn’t end until
the end of the summer. I don’t want to use ALL of my e-messages to talk about
this contest. I’m sure there will be lots of exciting stuff happening throughout
the summer that I’ll want to share with you. I’ve added a section on the HOME page of my website. As you check in with me to see where
I’ll be and what I’m doing, don’t foget to take a second to STOP. LISTEN. and
VOTE 🙂

Your prayers, well wishes and encouragement
always adds feathers to my wings! Thank you for helping me to GO higher! ~Gabbie
